…AS BUSES WILL LESSEN FINANCIAL BURDEN

Amidst the flagging off of the operation of the free school buses provided by Hon. Taiwo Oyekan to provide succour to indigent students of Lagos Island Local Government, some parents have expressed appreciation for the timely intervention.
The school buses which began operation on Monday, 6th January, 2025, conveyed students dressed in their uniforms from different pick-up points to their various schools free of charge.
Some parents who led their children to the pickup points expressed gratitude to Hon. Oyekan. According to Olaitan Abiodun, “the scheme would lessen our financial burden.”
The second term academic session began across the state on Monday.
According to Hon. Taiwo Oyekan, the initiative was designed to ease Students’ mobility from home to their schools and back at the close of school.
“The Education Development Intervention Initiative is a pilot scheme. I will acquire more buses to further accommodate larger number of students.
“I am very passionate about the academic performances of Students in Lagos Island Local Government Area,” the Council Deputy Leader explained.
It was gathered that the core objective of Corporate Social Responsibility is to promote access to qualitative education and academic excellence.
It will be recalled that Hon. Taiwo Oyekan recently rolled out the Free School Buses during a mega event titled: “Mega Plus Economic Empowerment” on Thursday, 19th December 2024.
In addition to other initiatives to cushion the economic effects on Lagos Island Local Government Area residents, Hon. Oyekan organised a free summer lecture and presented Scholarships to indigent students across the Local Government Area.
