…SAYS MERCY OF GOD IS WHAT EVERYONE NEEDS
By Okosun Dennis
The General Overseer, Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye has prayed for every member of the legal profession – bar and the bench – in Nigeria for divine wisdom, resounding knowledge and understanding to give sound judgment that would promote the course of peace and justice in the country.
Speaking on the topic: “Divine Mercy,” during the September 2025 Thanksgiving Service at the National Headquarters of the church, Ebute Metta on Sunday, 7th September, 2025, he called on every congregant not to forsake God but to be close to him in order to obtain divine mercy.
Some lawyers who attended the thanksgiving programme, were cladded in their gowns and wigs, and danced to the admiration of the congregation.
Quoting from the book of Matthew Chapter 5 v 7, “Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy,” he explained that those that have trust in God, would always had upper hand in every aspect of their lives.

Explaining further, he reiterated that “Justice is when you get what you decide and mercy is when you get something that you don’t decide.”
Observing that the power of mercy is difficult to describe, he noted that we are alive today because of the mercy of God. As a result, we should renounce our sinful ways and embrace God Almighty.
In his words, “So many people escape accidents or terrible situations because of mercy of God. Not necessarily because they are too righteous or without sins.
“You are what you are today by the mercy of God. One could face difficult challenges but with God’s mercy,” those challenges will be surmounted.
Buttressing his point with reference to a scenario during his undergraduate years when he went for an examination and became blank in the hall, oblivious of answers to the questions, Pastor Adeboye explained that “when you cry to God for mercy, he will intervene for you,” hence he overcame.
While using the blind man in the Bible, who cried to God for mercy, as a reference point, he reiterated that God stood still because the blind man genuinely asked for mercy.
Daddy G.O as fondly referred, admonished congregants not to relent if they haven’t had answers to their prayers but urged them to change their prayer pattern.
In his admonition, Pastor Adeboye stated that though God’s mercy is everlasting, it is without a condition. He warned that if God withdraws his mercy from anyone, the result is not always pleasant.
In his passionate prayers for the congregation, he prayed that “the mercy of God for them will never end,” and encouraged them to surrender their lives to God and set themselves free from every calamity, adding that God that saw them through to “ember” month will see them to the end of the year.
