The Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil–Kano, has commenced the final phase of its admission process for the 12th Regular Course, with the Selection Board Exercise officially beginning on Tuesday.
The exercise, which represents the culmination of the Academy’s multi-stage screening process, brings together key representatives from critical institutions to ensure fairness, transparency, and merit-based selection.
Members of the Selection Board include representatives of the Ministry of Police Affairs, the Federal Character Commission, the Police Service Commission, and the Office of the Inspector-General of Police. Also on the board are the Head of the Department of Psychology, Deans of all faculties within the Academy, the Academy Registrar, Provost, and other key secretariat staff.
The board is chaired by the Commandant of the Academy, AIG Patrick A. Atayero, MSc (UK), MBA (USA), psc, who led the commencement of the rigorous assessment of shortlisted candidates who successfully passed earlier screening stages.
Speaking at the close of the first day, the Commandant cautioned candidates against offering money or inducements to anyone in exchange for admission, emphasizing that entry into the Nigeria Police Academy remains strictly on merit, transparency, and due process.
“Admission into the Nigeria Police Academy is not for sale. Candidates are advised to disregard anyone demanding payment or promising preferential treatment,” he said.
AIG Atayero also warned prospective cadets to be vigilant against fake social media accounts impersonating the Academy. He stressed that the only verified Facebook page of the institution bears a blue verification tick, and that all official information is disseminated exclusively through the Academy’s verified communication channels and reputable national newspapers.
The Commandant congratulated the candidates for reaching the final selection stage and encouraged them to remain disciplined and focused as the board continues its assessments in the coming days. He also wished them safe travels back to their various destinations after completing their screening.
The Selection Board Exercise continues this week and is expected to conclude with the final list of successful candidates who will proceed to commence training as members of the 12th Regular Course.
