…foils attacking suspect’s bank

A 29-year-old Kingsley Gbeneku, of Akwuofor Asaba in Oshimili South and staff of a new generation bank, has been arrested for providing information to armed robbers on how to carry out a seamless attack on his branch.
The gang of dare-devil armed robbers were frustrated at carrying out their operation in Delta as they attempted to rob one of the new generation banks in Ughelli.
It was learnt that on April 7, 2021, about 2436hrs, based on intelligence gathered that a robbery syndicate was planning to attack and rob one of the new generation banks in Ughelli Delta state.
As a result, the Commissioner of Police, Delta state, CP Ari Muhammed Ali, directed Eagle net special squad headed by SP Usman Dimka to track down the criminals.
The Commander, therefore, detailed Eagle net special squad patrol teams led by DSP Yunusa Danyaya on a sting operation in one of their hideout in a hotel in Isiokolo Town of Ethiope East LGA Delta state, which led to the earlier arrest of their ring leader identified as Joshua Oghenenovo, 32 years of Uduphori town Patani LGA.
Recovered from him was one pump action with 20 live cartridges recovered. However, he has made a confessional statement after his arrest, which led to the arrest of one Kingsley Gbeneku, a 29 years ‘m’ of Akwuofor Asaba In Oshimili South, Delta state.
Surprisingly, he was said to be a staff of the new generation bank they were intending to rob. He has, the bank staff confessed to being their informant, and had already provided them with a clue on the modus operandi needed for them to attack and rob the bank successfully.
Efforts are ongoing to arrest other members of the gang, while members of the public are advised to avail the police with any useful information that would help the police to arrest them.
The CP Ali is assuring members of the public that the command under his watch will do all it takes to reduce crime in the state to the barest minimum and will continue to arrest criminals in the state and make them face the full wrath of the law.
