…”KILLED HIM TO PREVENT BEING HARMED BY DECEASED” – SUSPECTS
The killers of Brigadier General Harold Umem Udokwere in his house in Abuja on Saturday morning, have been arrested by the police.
According to a situation report posted by Retired Members of the Nigerian Armed Forces (REMENAF) the names of suspects as Ibrahim Rabiu, 33 years old from Dala Local Government Area of Kano state but resident at Rasha Apo Roundabout; Nafiu Jamil, 33 years old from Tofa LGA Kano, but resident at Apo Pantekar; Aliyu Abdullahi, 47 years old from Shinkafi LGA of Zamfara State but resident at Apo Roundabout Abuja and Mohammed Nuhu, 28 years old from Kumbotso LGA Kano state but resident at Apo primary school, all male.
While giving reasons for killing him, the suspects confessed that during the robbery operation, they murdered Gen Udokwere to prevent him from harming them with the pistols he brought out to defend himself but couldn’t effectively manipulate.
“I knew it was not loaded and rushed and stabbed him. There was no magazine in the pistol and as he was trying to load it, we rushed him before stabbing him. We got nothing much from the house. We shared the N40,000. While I took N20,000 the rest shared the balance of N20,000.
Brig Gen Udokwere, who was of Regular Course 9, was attacked on the 22nd June 2024 at his House No. 9 Sanga Street, Sunshine Homes by Kabusa Junction Lokogoma FCT, Abuja by armed robbers and was killed in the process.
However, the Commissioner of Police through a statement by the Spokesperson, Federal Capital Territory on Sunday, 23rd June 2024 by SP Josephine Adeh, commissioned an investigative panel into the killing to bring the culprits to justice.
However, CSP Victor Godfrey led other operatives from Kabusa and Pigbakasa Apo in FCT, Abuja, and arrested four suspects who robbed and murdered a retired army General.
It was learnt that the suspects have all confessed to the heinous crimes of murder and armed robbery of the late General.
They also confessed to having stolen Laptops, and phones among other valuables from the deceased home. Also recovered included the knife with which they stabbed him to death.
However, the deceased black GSM phone ‘Redmi’ was also recovered. Effort is on top gear to recover two pistols they confessed to have taken away from the General’s house.

Before his death, Brig Gen Harold Umem Udokwere was the National Chairman of the Retired Members of the Nigerian Armed Forces (REMENAF).
