A 37-year-old man, Onuwa Stephen, from Benin City, Edo State has been arrested in Minna, Niger State for unlawful possession of Automated Teller Machine (ATM).
The suspect who was arrested on August 7, 2020, about 1500hrs, based on credible Information was tracked down at Obasanjo Shopping Complex Minna while he was about to purchase a large number of Phones with another person’s ATM card.
During interrogation, the suspect confessed to have loitered around the premises of a Commercial Bank in Minna where he spied some customers at the ATM gallery.
He revealed that he was able to retrieve a customer’s ATM card from the machine and accessed the account.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Niger State Command, ASP Wasiu Abiodun, explained the commitment of the Commissioner of Police, CP Adamu Usman to guarantee a secured and safe state for the citizens.
Therefore, he called on members of the public to always give useful information to the security agencies for prompt intervention and arrest of criminal gangs.
The suspect, it was learnt, would be charged to court as soon as investigations are completed.
