The Rivers State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the abduction and murder of a young man, Sampson Worianime, who was reported missing in November 2025.
Worianime reportedly went missing on November 11, 2025, after accompanying members of his community youth group from Ogbogbo Community in Okrika to measure land at their former settlement.
Police investigations commenced following a petition submitted by the victim’s mother, prompting the Anti-Kidnapping Unit (AKU) to launch an intelligence-led operation. The operation led to the arrest of two suspects identified as Igwe Alex, 26, the Chief Security Officer of the Aleto-Eleme Community, and John Mikel, 24, both from Aleto Eleme.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Grace Iringe-Koko, preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects abducted two youths from Okrika during the incident. While one of the victims managed to escape, Worianime was allegedly killed by the suspects.

The suspects reportedly confessed to the crime and led police operatives to the location where the victim’s body was buried. The remains were subsequently recovered from a shallow grave near a river.
The arrested suspects are currently in police custody and are cooperating with investigators. The police said efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest other accomplices connected to the crime.
The Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, CP Olugbenga A. Adepoju, has ordered a comprehensive investigation to ensure that all those involved in the killing are brought to justice.
The Rivers State Police Command reassured residents of its commitment to public safety and justice, urging members of the public to provide any information that could assist in the ongoing investigation.
