The Katsina state Police Command had it cool with terrorists on Saturday as they killed a notorious terrorist, and arrested their informant while another fled with bullet wounds when they raided their hideout at Unguwar Maizuma Village in Danja local government area of Katsina state.
The spokesperson, SP Gambo Isah disclosed this in a statement on Sunday.
The raid was carried out at about 0730hrs while acting on credible intelligence that terrorists were sighted in a black spot at Maizuma village, Danja LGA of Katsina state.
The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Danja led a team of policemen to the area and engaged the hoodlums in a fierce gun duel.
Exhibits recovered included a locally fabricated gun, military camouflage uniform, machetes, and Dagger. Others are 100 bottles and five gallons of Spirit; some quantity of dried leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp, two Boxer motorcycles, three car batteries, and one Sewing machine, as well as a Roll of cable wire, two cooking gas cylinders.
It was learnt that the team successfully repelled the terrorists and neutralized one of the terrorists. In the course of scanning the hideout, the following one suspected informant to the terrorists was also arrested.
It was reasonably suspected that the ring leader of the terror group, Sule Dawa, escaped with fatal gunshots wound. The Command is making efforts with a view to arresting the gang leader and other members of the syndicate.
As a result, the Commissioner of Police, Katsina state Command, CP Idrisu Dabban Dauda, appreciated the efforts of the personnel in repelling the terrorists and directed them to sustain the tempo until all forms of crime and criminality are dealt with.
He also urged members of the public to continue to cooperate with security agencies in the ongoing campaign against terrorism in the state.
