The Kano State Police Command has arrested two suspected members of an armed bandit syndicate and intensified peace efforts in Makoda Local Government Area, as part of ongoing measures to strengthen security across the state.

The arrests were made in the early hours of Friday, October 24, 2025, following a coordinated tactical operation by operatives of the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad and Shanono Division. Acting on credible intelligence from residents of the Farin Ruwa community in Shanono LGA, the operatives successfully apprehended the two suspects believed to be collaborating with bandits attempting to infiltrate Kano State.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the suspects are currently in custody, and a comprehensive investigation has been launched to uncover the extent of their activities and identify other members of the syndicate.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, commended the vigilance and cooperation of the Farin Ruwa community, whose timely information led to the successful operation. He urged residents across the state to remain security-conscious and continue supporting law enforcement agencies by promptly reporting suspicious activities.

In a related development, the Command has intensified peace-building efforts in Makoda Local Government Area following recent clashes between herders and farmers in Barebari Ward.

To address the situation, CP Bakori convened a high-level meeting on Friday, October 24, 2025, at the Command Headquarters. The meeting, which followed earlier engagements led by ACP Mohammed Mani Gwarzo, Area Commander Dambatta, brought together key stakeholders to deliberate on lasting solutions to the conflict and strengthen community relations.

The Commissioner reaffirmed the Command’s unwavering commitment to maintaining law and order, protecting lives and property, and ensuring peaceful coexistence across the state.

He also reiterated the need for continued collaboration between the Police and community members, emphasizing that security remains a collective responsibility.

The Kano State Police Command assured residents that it remains resolute in its mission to combat crime and create a safe environment for all.
