The dictum that says: “the evil that men do live with them” played out recently at Ijomi village in Oghara, Delta State as one Ugbaudu Williams, a male, 31 years old a.k.a Beleke was arrested by the Delta State Police Command.
The notorious criminal was found fatally shot on his right hand and was seriously bleeding. He confessed that he was shot by one Desmond, his partner in crime for no justifiable reason.
Ugbaudu was said to have been arrested on May 5, 2021, at about 0405hrs, after a distressed call was received from an indigene of Ijomi village that in his compound, his dogs were barking signifying the presence of danger within the compound.
He said when he came out to check what was happening, he saw two armed boys in the compound.
This led to the Divisional Police Officer deploying a patrol team to the scene. The suspects on sighting the police took to their heels and jumped into the nearby bush.
When the bush was later combed by a combined team of police and vigilante teams, Ugbaudu Williams was found bleeding and subsequently arrested.
A spokesperson for the Delta State Police Command, DSP Bright Edafe said when he was taken to his house for a search, another locally made barrel gun was recovered with two live cartridges, one expanded cartridge was also recovered.
However, he was rushed to the General hospital Oghara for treatment where he gave up the ghost while receiving treatment. A manhunt for the fleeing suspect is ongoing.
Similarly, on May 3, 2021, at about 1430hrs, information was received that a good Samaritan reported that one Efe Lucky and Ramson Akpojibu both ‘m’ of Ughoton community Okpe Local Government Area brought a patient called Christian, a male with an unknown surname to Moving Star Clinic, Warri.
It was learnt that as soon as the patient was certified dead, the duo with bloodstains on their clothes attempted to abscond.
The DPO Orerokpe Division later deployed the detective to the clinic and after viewing the corpse, there were signs of violence on the body of the deceased.
It was gathered that the corpse was photographed and deposited at Orerokpe General Hospital mortuary.
Meanwhile, the police have arrested the two suspects Efe Lucky ‘m’ and Ramson Akpojibu ‘m’, and the premises of the suspects were searched, blood-stained cutlass, hammer, and blood-soaked towel were recovered.
They confessed that they were five in number that beat up the deceased to death over allegation of stealing their N3,000.00 and phones.
The effort is on to arrest the three other suspects. The Commissioner of Police Delta State has ordered that the case be transferred to State criminal investigation department for further investigation.
In another development, a police patrol team from Okpanam division while on stop and search behind three upstairs Okpana, a Bajaj (Boxer) motorcycle with Reg. No. AKM 705 VM conveying three persons were intercepted, the rider escaped, while the other two accomplices one Friday Worfer, Sunday Panwal, and Emmanuel David all ‘m’ of Ogbe-Obi Quarters Okpanam was arrested.
When a search was conducted on them, one locally-made pistol and one cartridge were recovered from the suspects.
Investigation revealed that the suspects are suspected to be among the syndicate who robbed in Asaba and Okpanam axis mostly at night. An investigation is ongoing to arrest the other fleeing suspect.
