The Anambra State Police Command has commenced an intensive investigation following the reported abduction of a medical doctor in Uruagu, Nnewi, located in Nnewi North Local Government Area of the state.
According to information released by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, the incident occurred on Thursday, October 30, 2025, when unidentified assailants allegedly whisked away the victim under yet-to-be-determined circumstances.
Confirming the development, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has ordered a full-scale operation involving tactical teams of the Command to ensure the safe rescue of the victim and the arrest of the abductors.
SP Ikenga stated that the Commissioner has assured the public of the Command’s determination to resolve the case swiftly and bring those responsible to justice. He added that security personnel are working round the clock to track down the perpetrators.
“The Command is leaving no stone unturned in ensuring the safe rescue of the victim,” he said. “We urge residents, especially those within Nnewi and its environs, to remain calm, vigilant, and supportive of the Police by providing credible information that could assist in the ongoing investigation.”
