The Anambra State Police Command under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc MNIPS PhD, collaborates with the State Chapter of the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA) on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, to celebrate the pupils of the Police Children’s School at the Police Headquarters Awka.

The celebration demonstrates the Command’s commitment to supporting police families and to promoting positive police-community relationships in the State.

During the event, the CP implored the pupils of the school to continue to avoid bad friends and to always exhibit habits that will make them good ambassadors of the Police Children’s School and the nation at large.

On the other hand, the State POWA Chairperson, Mrs. Chinwe Umerie encouraged the children to behave well and support their parents. She also thanked the Command and stated that the Association shall step up its community-focused activities to close the gap between the people and the Police.

Highlights of the event included a march past and salute to the State Commissioner of Police and the POWA State Chairperson, a Cultural dance display by the school children and many other activities.

In Attendance were the two Deputy Commissioners of Police in charge of Operations and Administration respectively, members of POWA, Principals of the respective Police Children’s Schools, some parents of the school children and other senior officers.

This collaboration between the Police Command and POWA showcases the importance of community policing and the role of police families in promoting positive relationships with the public, as well as their efforts to build trust and foster goodwill with the community.
