…RECEIVES COMMENDATION FROM STAKEHOLDERS, COMMUNITY MEMBERS FOR A CRIME-FREE IMOKA FESTIVAL 2025

The Anambra State Police Command, under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc MNIPS PhD has received widespread commendation from stakeholders, traditional institutions, and community members for the peaceful and hitch-free celebration of the 2025 Imoka Festival in Awka.

The festival, which is one of the major cultural events in the State, recorded zero incidents of violence, cult-related activities, or public disturbances. This was basically due to the proactive deployment of joint security personnel, robust intelligence gathering and community partnership strategy adopted by the Command.

Responding, the CP represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in Charge of Operations, DCP Ezekiel Ibrahim, appreciated the good people of Awka and the festival organisers for their cooperation, discipline, and respect for law and order throughout the celebration.

He further pledged the Command’s sustained commitment to securing all cultural and social events across the State. He also emphasized the importance of community support and timely information sharing in ensuring public safety.

The CP reaffirmed that the Anambra State Police Command will continue to adopt people-oriented policing strategies aimed at preserving cultural heritage, fostering peaceful coexistence, and ensuring that law-abiding citizens freely enjoy their constitutional rights. This was contained in a statement by SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Police Command, Awka.
