A raid on IPOB/ ESN Camps across Imo state and its environs has led to the neutralisation of the terror principals and arrest of remnants of the drug suppliers/distribution syndicate by the police.
Confirming the arrest, the Imo state Police spokesperson, CSP Mike Abattam said the suspects were nabbed on 7th July, 2021 about 1130 hours.
The operation carried out by the tactical teams of Imo State Police command, following an intelligence reports led to the arrested of one Obinna Ohaji, a male and aged 28 years, who disguised as a driver in search of passngers in a Nissan Caravan bus with the inscription ” ENDLESS GOD ” and registration number ABUJA, KUJ 88 XC, was in the company of one Samuel Egwi, a 36 years man.
They were reportedly smashed along Warehouse bus stop Owerri, Imo State. On searching the bus, a large quantity of white substance suspected to be cocaine neatly concealed in the bus was recovered.
However, interrogation revealed that the bus driver said that the white substance suspected to be cocaine was given to him to deliver to a lady name unknown at Elele in Rivers State.
He, then, voluntarily led the command’s tactical teams to the border between Imo State and Rivers State where the receiver, one Princess Samuel, a 17 years old was arrested.
However, she confessed to be the one who supplies the Rivers State axis of the terror group with drugs but was gracious to have led the tactical teams to the house of the drug Baron at Umuaka in Njaba local government area of Imo State, where one Nnamuka Uchenna, a 32 years old man was arrested.
A search of his premises led to the recovery of more quantities of the white substance suspected to be cocaine and the scale for measuring the quantity to be sold were recovered.
Also arrested in his residence were Chinedu Ukaegbulam, 20 years old and Augustine Ete, a 39 years old men who are in charge of a Nissan Caravan bus with the inscription “ENDLESS GOD” with registration number IMO , EBM 297 XA.
CSP Abatam stated that the suspects were reasonably believed to be the ones who distributed the drugs to the various terror camps in the state.
Meanwhile, the investigation is still ongoing to trace the source of the hard drugs into the state and also to arrest other members of the syndicate who are still at large.
The Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, CP Abutu Yaro, commended officers and men of the Command for their proactiveness in the fight against terror.
