Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command have recovered firearms, suspected stolen cash, and other incriminating items following a hot pursuit of fleeing suspects in Abagana, Njikoka Local Government Area of the state.
The recovery was made at about 5:00 p.m. on Monday, December 16, 2025, by operatives of the Commissioner of Police (CP) Special Patrol during an offensive security operation in the area.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, the operatives recovered one pump-action rifle, one locally fabricated single-barrel rifle, and an ash-coloured Toyota Highlander with registration number UWN 680 PE. Also recovered was suspected stolen cash amounting to ₦636,700, alongside other incriminating items.

The items were recovered after the suspects abandoned the vehicle following an accident while attempting to evade arrest during the hot pursuit by the police.
SP Ikenga said the suspects escaped on foot and are currently being tracked, adding that intelligence-led operations have been intensified to ensure their arrest.
He assured residents of the state that the Anambra State Police Command remains committed to proactive policing, maintenance of law and order, and the protection of lives and property across the state.
The Police spokesperson added that further developments on the matter would be communicated in due course.
