…SEIZES 390 WRAPS OF MARIJUANA

Discreet intelligence-gathering spanning over a long period has paid off as the Delta State Police Command had on July 28, 2021 about 2100hrs, arrested some Kidnappers terrorizing Agbor and its environs.
The Area Commander Agbor had a detailed surveillance team to Alifikede and swooped on the place making it impossible for the suspects to escape.
In the process, one Adamu Bayero, a 43 years old man was arrested after been hit by a bullet sustained from a gun duel with Police during previous kidnap operations. Also arrested was another Mohammed Ahmed, a 26 years old man.
Confirming the arrest, the state spokesperson of the Nigerian Police, DSP Edafe Bright revealed that investigation led to the recovery of three single barrel rifles, one locally-made pistol, and nine cartridges.
Also, on July 26, 2021 information was received by the DPO Orerokpe Division on the kidnap at Aragwa community and the kidnappers took the victim to the bush, led a combined team of police, army, and vigilante to go after the kidnappers, leading to the abandonment of the victim before they escaped.
The victim was rescued unhurt by the Security agents while a manhunt for the fleeing suspects is ongoing.
It was also learnt that sequel to the manhunt for a murder suspect in Sapele over a murder case, and intelligence revealed that the gang makes use of a Red Camry as their operational vehicle, the red spider Camry was sighted along Mosogar junction heading towards Oghara and was accosted.
The DPO mobilized and led a team of police to the area and when the hoodlums sighted the Police, they sped off and fell into a ditch, the hoodlums alighted from the vehicle and ran into the bush.
During the gun duel that ensued, one of them was arrested with gunshot injury while others escaped.
The arrested suspect was identified as Aejoke David aka Okoro while one Red Camry with Reg No: GWA 900 KF, one locally-made gun and three expended cartridges were recovered from the scene.
The injured suspect was rushed to the hospital, where he gave up the ghost while receiving treatment.
Also on July 26, 2021, the DPO ‘B’ Division Asaba acting on credible information that an ash colour Toyota Camry car with Reg. No. GWA 644 KH was snatched at gunpoint on July 22, 2021 about 2005hrs by three armed men along Asaba Benin expressway by NNPC filling station led the Divisional Police Officer to quickly detailed operatives from the division in conjunction with undercover police who went out in search of the said vehicle.
Fortunately, the vehicle was recovered at Akwuebulu Asaba and one of the suspect’s Ifeanyi Pascal ‘m’ 24 years of Ahamefuna Street Akwuebulu was arrested.
Similarly, The DPO GRA Division Asaba acting on the information received from an unknown caller that on July, 24, 2021 about 2230hrs, a custom colour Toyota Camry car with Reg. No. YAB 439 JH was also snatched at gunpoint by his gate No. 10 Crescent Street Asaba.
The DPO GRA division informed all nipping points within the metro, Stop and search was intensified and luck ran out of the suspect at about 2345hrs of the same date when the vehicle was intercepted at head bridge Asaba on his way to Onitsha Anambra State by men of Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU) at their pin down point and one Zubari Abdulmalik ‘m’ 22yrs old was arrested and the vehicle recovered. The investigation is ongoing.
As part of preventive measures to checkmate criminals/cult activities and to also curb drug menace in the Command, the Divisional Police Officer Ozoro raided criminal hideouts at Erovie quarters Ozoro.
During the raid, two suspects namely: Hope Azion 25 years old of Erovie quarters Ozoro and Joy Okorie, 21 years old both females of the same address were arrested.
A nylon bag containing 390 wraps of weeds suspected to be cannabis Sativa was recovered from them. The investigation is ongoing.
