The Anambra State Police Command, in collaboration with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), and other security stakeholders, has intensified advocacy efforts to combat cultism, drug abuse and other social vices among youths in the state.
The campaign formed the focus of a one-day youth summit organised by the Youth Assembly of Nigeria (YAN), Anaocha Chapter, with the theme “Combating Drug Abuse and Cultism Among the Youth for a Safer Society.”
The summit was held on Friday, March 7, 2026, at Swisspoint Hotel in Agulu, Anambra State.
During the engagement, participants highlighted the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV), a non-kinetic initiative of the Nigeria Police Force designed to discourage cultism, drug abuse and other forms of youth-related crime through advocacy and community engagement.
Speakers at the event, including representatives of the police and other security agencies, emphasised the need for collective action among security institutions, community leaders, parents and young people to tackle the growing threat of drug abuse and cult-related activities.

They urged youths to reject criminal influences and instead embrace positive values, education and lawful means of achieving their aspirations.
The summit also featured a testimony from a survivor of drug addiction, who shared personal experiences about the dangers of substance abuse. Participants were further shown video clips highlighting the devastating social and health consequences of drug addiction among young people.
The organisers noted that the engagement forms part of ongoing collaborative efforts between security agencies and community stakeholders to promote peace, security and responsible youth development in Anambra State.
In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, reaffirmed the commitment of the command and its partners to sustained advocacy and community engagement aimed at preventing crime and strengthening public safety across the state.
