…as IGP directs nationwide capturing of retirees

Following the approval of the Federal Government of Nigeria for the enrollment of retired Police Officers on the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), the Inspector-General of Police, IGP M. A. Adamu, has directed a nationwide registration and capturing of all retired Police officers.
The exercise is expected to kick off on September 7, 2020, and end on September 23, 2020 across the country.
The provision of the NHIS indicates that all retired Police officers, irrespective of their rank on retirement, along with a spouse, would have full access to all NHIS services and benefits covered by the Police Health Maintenance Organization (Police-HMO) Code-073.
Disclosing the new development in Abuja on Thursday, the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Frank Mba, said the exercise shall be in three batches, and would take place at the various Police Area Commands in the country.
As a result, every retired Police officers is required to visit any Police Area Command closest to them with the following basic requirements: National Identity Number (compulsory); Letter of Retirement; and the Retiree’s Identity Card.
DCP Mba further categorized the nationwide registration and capturing exercise in the following scheduled order.
The first batch would start on Monday, September 7, 2020 to Wednesday, September 9, 2020, involving the following geo-political zones and states under them. North-West States – Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto, and Zamfara.
Others are North-East States: Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba and Yobe; while North-Central States “B” have FCT and Nasarawa.
The second batch would commence on Monday, September 14, 2020, to Wednesday, September 16, 2020 and include the following zones: South-West States – Ekiti, Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Osun, Oyo and North-Central States “A”, Benue, Kogi, Kwara, Niger and Plateau.
The last batch would start on Monday, September 21, 2020 and end on Wednesday, September 23, 2020. The zones would be the South-South States –
Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Edo, Delta, Rivers and Bayelsa and South-East States – Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, Imo.
Meanwhile, the IGP Adamu has expressed his unfettered appreciation to President Muhammadu Buhari, for extending the National Health Insurance Scheme to retired Police officers.
He noted that the development would help address the age-long quest for affordable healthcare services for Police retirees and enjoined the senior citizens to take optimum advantage of the Scheme.
