The Anambra State chapter of the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA) has continued its ongoing skills acquisition programme for members and selected Ndi Anambra women, with participants recording notable progress after four days of intensive training in Ukpo, Dunukofia Local Government Area.
The empowerment initiative, holding at the Anambra POWA Skills Acquisition Centre, features practical lessons, hands-on training, experience-sharing, and capacity-building sessions designed to equip participants with sustainable vocational and entrepreneurial skills.

Beneficiaries of the programme expressed satisfaction with the training, noting improvements in their skill sets, renewed bonding and friendships, increased exposure, and the acquisition of innovative ideas to boost personal growth and community development.
A major highlight of the programme was the visit of the Pioneer Force Medical Director and Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Nkechi Eze, who encouraged participants and commended the initiative. The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, also visited the centre alongside other resource persons to motivate the trainees.

Speaking during the programme, the Acting Chairperson of Anambra POWA, Dr (Mrs) Eno Chongs Mantu, reaffirmed the association’s commitment to strengthening the link between officers’ well-being and family support systems. She emphasised that empowering police officers’ spouses and women in the community remains a strategic approach to deepening community policing and enhancing the state’s overall security framework.

The initiative underscores the commitment of the Anambra State Police Command to capacity building, family support, and community-driven development as part of broader efforts to promote sustainable security in the state.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga.
