In what comes as a New Year’s gift, the government on Monday slashed non-subsidised LPG price by ₹120.5 per cylinder.
“The price of non-subsidised LPG at Delhi will decrease by ₹120.50 per cylinder w.e.f. January 1, 2019, due to fall in price of LPG in international market and strengthening of U.S. dollar-rupee exchange rate,” the Indian Oil Corporation said in a statement.
Consumers will now pay ₹689 per unsubsidised cylinder, down from ₹809.5.
Subsidy-led cut
“As domestic LPG prices are subsidised, the effective price to consumer will reduce by ₹5.91/cylinder (from ₹500.90 in December 2018 to ₹494.99 for January 2019),” the IOC said.
