The Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Command, Assistant Superintendent of Corps I (ASCI) Abolurin Oluwaseun Olumide, on Wednesday, November 10, 2021, was honoured with an award as the ‘Most outstanding Public Relations Officer of the year 2021, for his indelible contributions, in putting up great strides, towards crime reduction and intellectual performance, in public relations.
ASCI Abolurin received the award at a national security conference and award ceremony, organised by the National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSP), held at the NECA HOUSE, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos.
According to the NAACP’s PRO, Mr. Eric Elezuo, “the event was organised to find out how technology and local intelligence can be used to solving the numerous insecurity challenges in the nation.” “This amongst several thoughts and opinionates brought about the theme of this year’s conference, ‘A Nation Under Siege: Activating Technology and Local Intelligence To Solving Conundrum.”
The conference and award ceremony witnessed the intellectual flow of keynote addresses from retired and serving service and security chiefs in the nation, out of which some were physically present and some ably represented.
The keynote addresses were kick-started, first, with a deeply resounding and highly cerebral thoughts by the former Inspector General of Police, Sir Mike Okiro (rtd), IGP Mohammed Dikko Abubakar (rtd), ably represented by Commissioner of Police (CP) Sam Abichele Okaula (rtd), Commandant-General of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ahmed Abubakar Audi, ably represented by Deputy Commandant of Corps, Sola Odumosu, Director of Public Relations NSCDC, National Head Quarters, Honourable James Faleke, ably represented by Mr. Oladotun Olakanle, Chairman Onigbongbo Local Council Development Area, Corps Marshall, Federal Road Safety Corps, Boboye Oyeyemi, ably represented by Sector Commander Olusegun Ogungbemide of the Lagos Command, Barrister Monday Onyekachi Ubani, Chairman of the event and the Managing Director, LAWMA, Mr. Ibrahim Adejuwon Odumboni were amongst other dignitaries present but not limited to the Registrar-General, Institute of Criminology and Strategic Studies of Nigeria (ICSS), Adekunle Aderemi, and few executives of the institute and the former General Manager of LASTMA, Eng. Olajide Oduyoye.
The event also featured a panel session, with panellists called upon to further deepen the discussion and practically x-ray the theme of the conference. The six-man panel included ASCI Abolurin Oluwaseun Olumide, PRO NSCDC Lagos State Command, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Bright Edafe, PPRO Delta State Police Command, Dr (Dcns) Cynthia Gregg, MD/CEO Safety Signatures, Mr Matthew Ibadin, CEO Badinson Security and Mrs Mary Odili, representative of Brigadier-General Buba Marwa (rtd), Chairman/CEO NDLEA and DR. Afolabi Kehinde Oke – CEO, INFOSWIFT LTD.
The award was presented to the NSCDC Lagos Command’s PRO, ASCI Abolurin Oluwaseun, by CP Sam Abichele OKaula (rtd), alongside IGP Sir Mike Okiro (rtd), Sector Commander, FRSC Lagos Command Olusegun Ogungbemide amidst others.
ASCI Abolurin dedicated the award to his late father, Mr Oyebola Emmanuel Abolurin and his mother, Mrs Deborah Funmilayo Abolurin, CG Ahmed Audi, Commandant Eweka Okoro, DCC Sola Odumosu, Director Public Relations NHQ, management and staff of Lagos State Command, NSCDC State Command’s Public Relations Officers and Units and the media.
Speaking further, he affirmed that the award will further encourage and spur him to continue to do more, using his God-given talent, academic prowess and training, to contribute more.
