The Abia State government has announced that movement of persons and goods in the state shall be restricted. This is as result of the forthcoming local government elections holding in the state on Friday, December 18, 2020; and at the same time, declared Friday as a public holiday.
In a statement by the Honorable Commissioner for Information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu, said, “Movement of persons and goods shall be restricted within the state from midnight of Thursday, December 17, 2020 with only staff of Abia State Independent Electoral Commission (ABSIEC), security agents, media practitioners and others on essential duties exempted.”
“We also call on citizens and visitors alike to ensure the maintenance of peace, law and order before, during and after the election.”
