…A VISIONARY TO BE RECKONED WITH – IBADIN
By Okosun Dennis
As the death of Dr. Ona Ekhomu has continued to generate discourse in the security circle, Nigerians especially some security practitioners have been discussing the vacuum left by his demise in the industry.
While some described him as very versatile, astute, and reliable in security management, others say his experience is unequalled as far as security engineering is concerned in Nigeria.
According to the Chief Executive Officer of Badinson Security, Mr. Matthew Ibadin, he sees the late Ekhomu as “a visionary to be reckoned with,” adding that the impact of his loss will be strongly felt by many because of what the late Dr. Ona Ekhomu represents in Nigeria.
“This is a loss whose impact will be strongly felt by many because Chief Dr. Ona Ekhomu was a visionary to be reckoned with.
“He was my teacher, he delivered a lecture organized by Police Community Relation Committee (PCRC) Victoria Island on “Practical Implementation of Community Policing.”
Ekhomu was one who had the interest of the community at heart and was always at the forefront to fight again any form of crime.
“Chief Ona was an icon in the security industry. He encouraged me to register my Security Company because he was enthusiastic about the progress and development of those around him. He was a friend, a brother and a mentor in the security industry.
Quoting Rabindranath, he said, “Death is not extinguishing the light. It is putting out the lamp because the dawn has come”.
“His song may have ended, but his melody still lives on within us. May his soul rest in peace and fortitude be granted unto his loved ones,” Ibadin reiterated.
For Richard Amuwa, another security consultation and analyst on Radio, simply wrote: “RIP, Senior Boss.”
“My journey into Security/Media was influenced by you without knowing…I’m glad I shared that with you.
“Still remember as an undergraduate studying Advanced Diploma in Security Operations and Management in Unilag, your analysis on security issues prompted me to study hard and inspired me to follow your footsteps.
“Good night senior boss,” Amuwa reiterated.
