The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Youth Development, Senator Yemi Adaramodu, has lauded the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Management for mentoring and guiding Corps Members in leadership responsibilities.
He said the immeasurable contributions of Corps Members to national development cannot be quantified.
Adaramodu disclosed this when he paid a courtesy visit to the NYSC Director General, Brigadier General YD Ahmed at the National Directorate Headquarters in Abuja.
While reminiscing on his youth service days as a Corps Member in Ogun State, Adaramodu added that the NYSC opportunity gave him a leeway in life.
He advised youths in the country to aspire to become leaders irrespective of where they find themselves.
“I am passionate about NYSC because it is for Nigerian youths. I am passionate about being a part of the NYSC Core Values. We are going to stand with the Scheme through thick and thin. We are going to contribute more to support the Scheme”, Adaramodu said.
The lawmaker also hinted that efforts are still on-going to get Presidential assent for the NYSC Trust Fund.
He called for the continuity of the Scheme because of its roles in nation-building, youth empowerment, and infrastructural development.
In his remarks, the NYSC Director-General, Brigadier General YD Ahmed lauded Senator Adaramodu for his immense contributions to the Scheme starting from when he was the Chairman, House Committee on Youth and Sports.
He promised Senator Adaramodu of his administration’s desire to take the Scheme to enviable heights.
During the visit, Senator Adaramodu inspected the new NYSC ICT building, NYSC Television News Studio, and NYSC Museum where he commended the Management for their pragmatic and innovative leadership.
