Nemesis has caught up with one Yahaya Muntari, 23 years old notorious armed robbery who engages in motorcycle snatching by luring unsuspecting commercial motorcycle riders to lonely roads where he strangulated them using motorcycle clutch cable wire, before making away with their motorcycles.
Muntari who hails from Ruma village, Batsari Local Government Area was said to have on the 5th June 2022 about 2200hrs, been arrested by the Katsina State Police Command.
SP Gambo Isah, spokesperson of the Command stated in a statement that the suspect was accosted by a police patrol team attached to Anti-kauraye on routine patrol along Batsari road behind KTTV where he lured one Abdullahi Bello, a male and aged 22 years of Dantsauni village, Jibia LGA, a commercial motorcycle rider and strangled him with a cable wire.
The victim was rescued by the timely intervention of the police and was rushed to General hospital for treatment. In the course of the investigation, the suspect confessed to having killed many of his victims through the same method.
He mentioned the duo of one Abubakar Musa alias Abu-Abu, 17 years of Unguwar Abba Jaya and Zaharaddini, 25 years of Unguwar Tsamiya, both of Dutsinma town, Dutsinma LGA, as members of his syndicate.
It was learnt that all the suspects have been arrested and confessed to the commission of the offence as the investigation is ongoing with a view to arresting other members of the syndicate.
In addition, on the 24th May 2022 about 1130hrs, the command succeeded in arresting one Usman Haruna, a male and 23 years of Ruwan-Godiya village, a member of the outlawed Yansakai group, who conspired with others at large.
They abducted one Ibrahim, an Okada rider to the bush, beat him to death and went away with his motorcycle.
In the course of the investigation, it was revealed that the suspect conspired with three other suspects Nasiru Ali; Adamu and Sa’adu all of Ruwan Godiya village now at large.
Also arrested on the 30th May 2022 at about 1600hrs, was Isah Sabitu alias “Babani” 20 years and Idi Salisu Gadi, 20 years of Musawa LGA, notorious members of the syndicate.
The fact of the case is that on 28th May 2022 about 2000hrs, terrorists numbering about three, armed with dangerous weapons, attacked the residence of one Sakina Sanusi, a Female, of Rugar Kusa village, Musawa LGA and robbed her of money the sum of two hundred and sixty-three thousand naira (N263,000) and one GSM Vivo valued N8000, belonging to one Abdulkadir Adamu and also kidnapped her daughter one Hajara Lawal, female, aged 18 years of the same address to Bambama forest.
In the course of the investigation, Police Patrol Team, rescued the kidnapped victim unhurt in the forest. One of the suspects identified as Babaye is presently at large as the investigation continues.
In another development, on the 31st May 2022 about 0900hrs, three women, all from Jikamshi village, Musawa LGA, reported at Musawa Division that at different time intervals, one Jume Bello, 20, of the same address, trespassed into their houses and attacked them with a knife, robbing them of their money, handset and forcefully had unlawful carnal knowledge of the victims.
In the course of the investigation, the suspect was arrested and confessed to the commission of the offence.
