STRENGTHENING MILITARY TIES: CHINESE DEFENCE UNIVERSITY VISITS CAS

In a bid to deepen military collaboration with the Chinese Defence University, the Chief of Air Staff (CAS) of the Nigerian Air Force, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, received a delegation from the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Defence University, led by Rear Admiral Hu Gang Feng.

The delegation was received on behalf of the CAS by the Chief of Policy and Plans (COPP), Nigerian Airforce, Air Vice Marshal IH Etukudo, at the NAF Headquarters, Abuja, on Friday, December 13th, 2024.

It was learnt that the delegation’s visit was aimed at strengthening military ties. They were received by the Chief of Policy and Plans (COPP), Air Vice Marshal IH Etukudo, who highlighted the long-standing partnership between Nigeria and China.

He underscored China’s significant contributions to the NAF, including training, platform modernisation, and equipment procurement.

He also emphasized that 57 NAF personnel have benefitted from training in China since 2019, reflecting the growing collaboration between the two nations.

In his remarks, Rear Admiral Hu expressed his appreciation for the NAF’s operational excellence, particularly in counterterrorism and joint operations.

He commended the NAF’s emphasis on capacity building, highlighting the importance of the Air Force’s comprehensive training programmes in fostering operational readiness.

The visit underscored the growing collaboration between the two militaries, reinforcing their shared commitment to enhancing defence capabilities and strengthening bilateral ties.
