It was a huge relief for the mother (a widow) of 11 years old boy, Gift Osayuhi, who was released from detention by the police for impersonation on Friday in Benin City, Edo State.
The young lad had ignorantly adorned Police Sergeant uniform, purportedly taken from Oba Market Police Station when hoodlums and miscreants attacked it last week.
His freedom was secured by the Speaker of the Talakawa Parliament, Marxist Kola Edokpayi, who led other members of the Human Rights Group to the police Headquarters.
Osayuhi, whom police allegedly joined the hoodlums to attack the station was later arrested while wearing the uniform and parading himself among his lads as the new Inspector General of Police.
After he was arrested and his picture went viral on social media, it was learnt that the police authority in Benin City had threatened to arraign him before a juvenile Court as he was under-aged.
According to Marxist in his Facebook wall, “We have been able to secure the unconditional release of the 11 years old boy by name Gift Osayuhi, whose picture went viral on social media yesterday.”
“He was arrested for allegedly joining some miscreants to break into Oba Market Police station, took their police Uniform, wore it and declared himself as the new Inspector General of Police during the #ENDSARS# protest.”
“The boy was released to us after we undertook to rehabilitate and reform him.”
He further explained that, “The young boy said his dream is to become the Inspector General of Police and we also undertook to ensure the boy is giving a proper education so as to help him achieve his dream.”
The Speaker of the Talakawa Parliament, Marxist while thanking the police authority for the gesture of releasing the boy to them, reiterated that, “We sincerely thanked the Edo State Commissioner of Police and Edo State Ministry of Justice for the kind understanding and cooperation.”
It was learnt that the group also met with the mother of the boy, a widow who sells water and drinks at Ring Road in Benin City, where the boy assisted her in the business.
“We also met with his mother who told us she is a widow. She takes care of the children alone and the little boy usually assists her to sell water and drinks at Ring Road, Benin City,” Marxist added.
It was gathered that the Speaker with other members of the Human Rights Group have been engaging at fighting for, rescuing and assisting people especially the less privileged members of the society to get justice and recompense.
It would be recalled that the Marxist and his group recently stormed the Oredo Magistrate Court, Sapele Road Benin City in solidarity with Little Osakemwen Eboigbodin, the six years old baby who was defiled by an adult identified as Obiyan Destiny, on July 4SS, 2020 in Uwelu, Benin City for purported ritual purpose.
