A 35-year-old Nonso Umeadi Oyiboka, of Ogidi Ani-Etiti in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, a landlord through inheritance, was on October 6, 2020, murdered by his tenant.
SP Haruna Mohammed, spokesperson of the Anambra State Police Command, said the tenant, Onyeamachi Mmaju, 21, who lives in the same address has been arrested.
In a statement, he explained “following the report, Police operatives attached to Ogidi Division led by Divisional Police Officer, CSP Ekuri Remigius, visited the scene and rushed victim who was found in a pool of his blood to Iyi Enu Mission Hospital Ogidi for medical attention.”
“He was certified dead by the medical doctor on arrival but the corpse was deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy.”
“However, a careful observation on the deceased body revealed that he was stabbed on his back with deep wound while a blood stained knife allegedly used in perpetrating the act was also recovered as exhibit at the scene.”
Meanwhile, preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased allegedly had a quarrel over “bringing of too many women into the compound” which eventually led to a scuffle resulting to the deceased being stabbed to dead.
However, the State Commissioner of Police, CP John B. Abang, has ordered for the case to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for discreet investigation after which suspect would be charged to Court for prosecution.
