The Nigerian Air Force on Thursday took delivery of the first batch of six A-29 Super Tucano aircraft from the United States. They were received in Kano about 12.34pm, the Director of Public Relations and Information, (DOPRI) NAF Headquarters, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, confirmed in a statement in Abuja. This is the first batch of A-29 Super Tucano aircraft that have arrived as others are expected in later.
The aircraft were received by the Honourable Minister of Defence, Major General Bashir Magashi (Rtd), Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya and Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Oladayo Amao.
It was learnt that an induction ceremony for the newly acquired aircraft jets would take place in August. Also, apart from the Tucano fighter jets, Nigeria is also expecting other fighter jets from Pakistan.
