Troops of Sector 1, Operation FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY), have rescued six abducted victims during a coordinated security operation in the Kajuru/Kujama general area of Kaduna State.
The rescue, which took place on January 5, 2026, was part of a broader series of simultaneous operations conducted across multiple axes within Chikun, Kajuru, Kachia and Kagarko Local Government Areas, including communities along the Kauru border. The operations were aimed at further restricting the activities and movement of violent extremist elements within the Joint Operations Area (JOA).
According to the Nigerian Army, troops of Sub-Sector 5, who were already engaged in clearance operations in the Kujeni general area, swiftly responded to a distress alert concerning the presence of armed criminals around the Kasso-adjoining hills. Upon arrival at the location, the troops made contact with the criminals and engaged them with effective suppressive fire, forcing the suspects to flee into the surrounding forest.
The troops subsequently conducted a thorough exploitation of the area, which led to the successful rescue of six kidnapped victims. The rescued persons were later handed over safely to representatives of Kajuru Local Government Area and the Kajuru Emirate Council for onward reunification with their families.
Commending the troops for their bravery and professionalism, the General Officer Commanding and Commander, Sector 1 Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Major General Abubakar Sadiq Mohammed Wase, charged them to remain on maximum alert and sustain the current aggressive operational tempo to deny criminal elements freedom of action within the Joint Operations Area.
The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to ongoing operations aimed at restoring peace and security across Kaduna State and other affected areas.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued by the Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 1 Division Nigerian Army/Sector 1 Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Shuaib Umar.
