The United States Consulate General, Lagos, will this morning carry out a tree planting event to commemorate World Environment Day.
The event is taking place at the St. Saviour’s School, Railway Compound, Ebute-Metta, Yaba- Lagos. The whole idea is to serve as a learning opportunity to get school kids involved in the environment.
Acting U.S. Consul General Brandon Hudspeth will lead the tree planting exercise and deliver remarks highlighting the importance of conserving the environment for posterity.
Those that would join the Acting Consul General Hudspeth in the tree planting include students and staff of St. Saviour’s School, Yaba; the General Manager Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency, Ms Dolapo Fasawe; and the Managing Director, Lagos State Waste Management Authority, Mr Ibrahim Odumboni.
Others include the Chairman, Yaba Local Council Development Area, Omiyale Kayode Adejare; members of the Young Africa Leaders Initiative (YALI) Network and Members of the Mandela Washington Fellowship Alumni Association, and other volunteers.
There will also be a cleaning exercise as part of the YALI Network Clean-Up Nigeria Campaign. It will take place at Sabo, Yaba.
