…DONATES BOOKS TO ALMA MATER
What a way to remember one’s former school for grooming you academically to become a responsible figure in society and in return, says thank you for being my Alma mater?
That is what the Commander 9 Brigade, Nigerian Army (NA), Brigadier General Isang Akpaumontia did on Tuesday as he donated a water project and books to Lagos Premier Day School Surulere, his alma mater.
The donation was part of the activities to mark the Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL) 2022.
Speaking at the occasion, Brigadier General Akpaumontia noted that he was inspired to embark on the project as a result of his desire to contribute to the pressing needs of the school and to give back to his alma mater.
He said he was thankful to God for giving him the privilege to pass through the school which has been a citadel of excellence.
The Commander urged the direct beneficiaries to put the water project into good use as it would help alleviate the water challenge in the school and foster a conducive learning environment.
Brigadier General Akpaumontia also used the occasion to appreciate the Chief of Army Staff for his visionary leadership which was one of the factors that motivated him toward the project and the General Officer Commanding 81 Division for his support and guidance.
He also enjoined others to extend the same gesture to their respective alma mater in pursuit of academic excellence.
The Head Teacher of Lagos Premier School, Mrs. Nwaturuosiha thanked the Brigade Commander for having the school at heart at this trying moment. She said the school would ensure that the project is put to good use for the benefit of all.
Highlights of the event include a cultural display by the pupils of the school and the presentation of souvenirs.
