The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has announced the elevation of the traditional ruler of Kwali Area Council, Luka Ayedoo Nizassan III, to the status of a First-Class Chief.
The minister made the announcement on Monday during a thank-you visit to Kwali, where he addressed a large crowd of residents and community leaders.
In a statement by the Deputy Director, Press, Office of the Honourable Minister, Rabi Musa Umar, the decision was taken in recognition of the monarch’s support for Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his contributions to promoting peace, unity and the cultural heritage of the Gbagyi people.

According to Wike, the president is pleased with the leadership of the Etsu Kwali and has pledged to personally visit the community to appreciate the royal father and the people.
He also announced that the FCT Administration would construct a new palace for the upgraded traditional stool.
“Today, by the grace of God, you have fulfilled the promise you made to Mr. President and he has promised to come personally to thank you; we will also fulfill the promises we have made to you,” the minister said.

“Let me add here that the traditional ruler will have a befitting palace… I hereby, by the powers conferred on me, upgrade his stool to a first-class stool,” Wike declared.
The minister also commended the outgoing Chairman of Kwali Area Council, Danladi Chiya, and the Chairman-elect, Nuhu Daniel Kwali, for what he described as people-oriented policies that have benefited residents at the grassroots. He pledged continued support from the FCT Administration for development initiatives in the council.
Earlier, Chiya thanked the minister for his consistent support to the area council and described the recent electoral outcome as unprecedented, noting that it was the first time a political party would produce a chairman and all ten councillors consecutively in the council.

He also appealed to the minister to assist in reconstructing a bridge linking Kwali to Kuje Area Council and Nasarawa State.
In his remarks, the Etsu Kwali described the minister’s visit as historic, noting that it was the first time an FCT minister would visit the council to appreciate residents after an election.
The Chairman-elect also praised the minister’s projects in the council, saying they contributed to his electoral victory, while reiterating the request for the construction of a befitting palace for the Etsu Kwali.
