The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barr. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, has confirmed a renewed intervention by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu aimed at resolving the lingering political crisis in Rivers State.
Speaking to journalists on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, during an inspection tour of major infrastructure projects in Abuja, the Minister commended the President for stepping in once again to mediate between the Rivers State House of Assembly and Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
Describing President Tinubu as a father figure committed to national stability, Wike noted that this marks the second time the President has intervened in the Rivers political impasse.

“Mr. President has been very kind to the people of the state. As a father, he really had to intervene. This is the second time Mr. President has intervened. I believe, by the grace of God, this will be the last time,” Wike stated.
In a statement by the Deputy Director, Press (Office Of The Honourable Minister), Rabi Musa Umar, the Minister expressed optimism that the latest mediation efforts would produce a lasting resolution. He disclosed that members of the Rivers State House of Assembly have been advised to comply fully with the President’s directives, while also expressing hope that the state executive arm would honour its commitments under the peace arrangement to end the recurring discord.
Beyond the political developments, Wike also assessed the progress of critical road projects within the FCT, particularly in the Life Camp and Karsana Districts.
He revealed that the extension of Arterial Road N5 (Obafemi Awolowo Way) from Life Camp Junction to Kafe District is nearing completion. According to him, the contractor, Julius Berger Plc, has assured that final works on walkways and streetlights will be concluded within the next three weeks.
The project, which includes a four-lane bridge, is scheduled for inauguration during President Tinubu’s third anniversary in office.
On the Renewed Hope City Access Road in Karsana, Wike said the 10-kilometre ring road project being executed by Lubriks Construction Company is progressing at an impressive pace. He expressed satisfaction with the quality of work and confidence that the contractor would meet the May/June completion deadline.
“I’ve seen their work, and they are really going to meet the May/June deadline. On our part, we will ensure they get the necessary funding to finish on time,” he said.
The Minister reaffirmed the FCT Administration’s commitment to strict quality control and timely delivery of projects, stressing that the Renewed Hope Agenda musttranslate into tangible benefits for residents of the nation’s capital.
