The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, has outlined Abuja’s Smart City Vision, anchored on strategic investments across five key pillars — urban mobility, sustainability, public safety, digital governance, and economic empowerment.
Speaking on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at the 2025 Asia Pacific Cities Summit and Mayors’ Forum in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Wike said the FCT Administration is pursuing partnerships that blend innovation, technology, and inclusive urban growth.

He highlighted Abuja’s ongoing collaborations with international agencies and private sector partners, citing the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)-supported Smart Water Metering initiative, Chinese-backed Intelligent Traffic Light systems, and flagship urban renewal projects such as the Abuja City Walk and Abuja Industrial Park.
“These projects reflect our commitment to building a modern, resilient, and livable capital city through strong public-private partnerships and city-to-city cooperation,” Wike stated.

On the sidelines of the summit, the Minister also held bilateral discussions with the UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation, Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, who oversees the Political Affairs Office of the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
