Prophet TB Joshua has praised some Nigerian Governors for employing some youths into the civil service as a solution to youths unemployment.
The cleric who gave a prophesy said it has provoked a revolution in Nigeria which had seen some state employing youths in order to avert the ‘ominous signs’ by ‘carrying the youths along in politics and administration’.
The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has approved the employment of 5,000 youths into the Rivers State Civil Service to cushion the effects of the sparrowing youths unemployment in the country.
A viral video by the Synagogue Church of All Nation in July 14, 2013, where the cleric spoke pointed out that, “I am seeing a revolution,” added that recent employment of the youths was in fulfillment of the prophesy.
“I’m seeing people taking to the street. You can stop protests but you cannot stop revolution. When it becomes a revolution, everybody is ready to die, so you can’t stop it,” he continued.
“It might be stopped at the beginning. Eventually, it will become so big that it cannot be stopped. This I see happen. Nigeria, pray,” he reiterated.
Joshua further stated that, “God has given us a way out” which he described as “job creation for the youth and the creation of a new social value system.”
He particularly called on Nigerian politicians to actively engage young people in the political sphere, thus “training them to take over tomorrow.”
“No matter the education the youth have, they feel they have no place in politics and there is no job to keep them busy. In politics, the youth should be considered for important positions such as assistants to elders. While the elders are ministers, the youth should be junior ministers,” he advised.
As the nationwide protests over police brutality have intensified and morphed into demands for good governance and frustration over administrative failures, several state governors began acting on Joshua’s prophetic guidance, albeit belatedly.
He observed that Prof. Ben Ayade and Mr Udom Emmanuel, the governors of Cross River and Akwa-Ibom, both announced immediate actions to prioritise job creation for young people, especially in the political sphere.
Subsequently, in a meeting on Wednesday, October 28, 2020, Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, approved the employment of 5000 youths into the state’s civil service “as an immediate measure to reduce the level of youth unemployment.”
“In addition, we shall also continue to support our youth to acquire relevant skills or take up opportunities in small and medium scale enterprises to become self-employed and employers of labour,” Wike added.
Speaking after the meeting, the Commissioner for Employment Generation and Empowerment, Mr. Sylvanus Nwankwo said the youths to be employed must not be more than 35 years old.
The #EndSARS protests have highlighted the growing discontent among young people towards the political elite and their willingness to pay the price to make their voices heard.
