Three suspected bandits have been arrested suspects as the ongoing fight against banditry, kidnapping and other organised crimes in Zamfara State continues.
As a result, CP Yusuf Kolo has vowed to protect the lives and properties of the citizenry of the state.
In a statement by SP Mohammed Shehu, the Police Public Relations Officer of the command said two of the arrested suspects collaborated and supplied fuel to bandits and have been operating in Dankurmi forest including Surajo Yahaya, 35, Bello Abubakar, 70. The exhibits recovered from them included a
Golf vehicle with Reg No: LAGOS EJ 556 LSD; 47 empty jerricans and N92,000.
It was learned that on September 25, 2022, at about 0016hrs, Police Tactical Operatives while on midnight patrol within Gusau Metropolis, acted on intelligence information and trailed the Golf vehicle and arrested the driver, Surajo Yahaya inside a filling station located along Garejin Mailena – Wanke Road Gusau.
It was revealed that the vehicle was loaded with empty Jerricans and were received by the security guard of the filling station identified as Bello Abubakar which were meant to take fuel and convey it to bandits at Dankurmi forest for their deadly operations.
A search conducted at the filling station led to the recovery of 47 empty jerricans of 25 litres each. Also, 70 loaves of Bread and N92, 000 were recovered.
Similarly, on September 24, 2022, Police Tactical Operatives acted on intelligence information that led to the arrest of a notorious bandit identified as Juli Musa, 54, of Kwashabawa village in Zurmi local government area who has been terrorising innocent members of the public in Zurmi, B/Magaji, and K/Namoda LGAs respectively.
It was further revealed that the suspect has been into cattle rustling, receiving, and selling rustled animals in different parts of the state. A discreet investigation is in progress aimed at arresting his partners in crime and charge to court for prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police while reassuring the public of the command’s commitment to the protection of lives and property, appealed for continuous collaboration with the Police and other security agencies in an effort to rid the state of criminal activities.
