The Zone 9 Police Command of the Nigeria Police Force has activated enhanced security measures across Abia, Ebonyi and Imo states to guarantee a peaceful and secure Yuletide celebration in the South-East.
The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 9, AIG Kanayo Uzuegbu, psc(+), who felicitated with Christians in the region and beyond on the occasion of Christmas, assured residents of the Command’s unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property throughout the festive season.
AIG Uzuegbu noted that the Yuletide period is traditionally characterised by increased social activities and movement of people, which necessitates proactive and robust security arrangements.
He stated that, in line with this reality, the Commissioners of Police in Abia, Ebonyi and Imo states have been directed to implement watertight security strategies through comprehensive operational orders.
According to him, the measures include the strategic deployment of personnel and operational assets to critical and vulnerable locations across the Zone, with the aim of ensuring a peaceful, hitch-free and enjoyable Christmas celebration for residents.
The Zonal Commander also urged members of the public to celebrate responsibly and remain law-abiding, warning against all forms of crime and criminality. He further encouraged citizens to support the Police by promptly reporting any suspicious movements or activities to the nearest police formation.
While wishing residents a Yuletide season filled with peace, joy and renewed hope, AIG Uzuegbu reaffirmed the commitment of the Zone 9 Police Command to its core mandate of maintaining public safety and security during the festive period and beyond.
