The 147 formidable Yoruba Youth Groups in the South West led by Afenifere National Youth Council, the Apex sociocultural youth organization in Yoruba Land, and the Youth Wing of Afenifere in a joint statement issued on Sunday added that the leaders have endorsed Peter Gregory Obi and Senator Datti Yusuf Baba-Ahmed as their candidate of choice for the 2023 presidential election.
He reiterated that the candidacy of Peter Obi would address the endemic problems facing the country ranging from infrastructural deficit to insecurity, poverty, health, education, and the economy.
“We are not in doubt of his ability to perform, but we owe him the right to get him to the place he would perform through our votes.
Prince Barr. Eniola Joseph Ojajuni further added that Peter Obi is the best man for the job chosen by God to lead Nigeria to her Canaan Land. He called on well-meaning Nigerians to vote for Peter Obi for a country with many possibilities. “And for us in the South West, we must stand up and be counted in this history-making election.”
He enjoined every Yoruba son and daughter in the diaspora to come home and vote for Peter Obi to have a stable economy adding that regardless of the economic crisis, elections would hold and Peter Obi shall be delivered to Nigeria as the President.
In his acceptance speech, the Labour Party Presidential candidate, Peter Obi expressed satisfaction with their show of comradeship endorsing him and promised to work for the interest of the common good of every Nigerian that would elect him next Saturday, February 25, 2023, in General Elections.
Represented by Dr. (Mrs.) Anita Nana Okumbido, who is the Chairman, “Light Up Nigeria” for Peter Obi said that history was being made because there is “no dichotomy anymore in Nigeria because Peter Obi foresees a unifying country” considering that Afenirere that is seen to be a Pan-Yoruba organization has endorsed him, it is unpredicted development.
“Together in unionism, we shall deliver on February 25, 2023, general election. Peter Obi is light and he would dispel the darkness of democracy in Nigeria.”
On the fears expressed by some doubting Thomases that when elected, Peter Obi might deliver the State of Biafra to the Ibos, Okumbido said that such insinuation was ill-conceived. Rather, Peter Obi stands for Nigeria that is devoid of ethnicity but sees itself as Nigeria interested in the socio-political developments of the country.
However, the Chairman, Lagos State Labour Party, Ekong Dayo, expressed the readiness of the party and Peter Obi to take out Nigeria from the current economic quagmire, hopelessness, and suffering in the land; adding that Nigeria can no longer be allowed to be left in this state of shambles where everything seems giddy and unreal.
Applauding the Afenirere Youths Council for the endorsement, she noted that they have taken formidable steps adding that this is the time to decide the future of Nigeria by embracing the Labour Party and rescuing Nigeria.
“Peter Obi and Yusuf Datti stand for capacity and competence, hope for the hopeless, the downtrodden, and the revival of the economy.
On his part, a member of the Afenirere Youth Council, Otunba Tunde Talabi emphasized the importance of unity which is pivotal to development noting that it’s time to unite for Peter Obi and Yusuf Datti as they serve as catalysts that would cause a positive change after years of swimming in murky waters of political confusion.
“It’s unfortunate we are pedestal in the history of the country. Thank God we have finally woken up, Otunba Talabi reiterated.
On his part, the National Secretary, Afenirere Youths Council, Abiodun Aderohunmu, emphasized that Peter Obi has shown so much passion, tenacity, commitment, and love displayed to bring out the country from its woes.
It is noteworthy to emphasize that we have built relationships across Niger that will help to put the ObiDatti mandate on a fast lane to achieve the aim of taking over the presidency.
