The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), on Monday, stated that its operatives have apprehended a runaway terrorist inmate, Suleiman Sidi, as he was trying to escape to Borno State.
The wanted terrorist was among those who escaped from the Kuje Prison fortnight ago, during the invasion of the National Correctional Centre facility, where 65 Boko Haram terrorists and 600 other criminals escaped from the facility.
The Director of Publicity and Strategy, Femi Babafemi, in a statement, said the alleged wanted terrorist, Sidi was arrested in the early hours of Monday in Abuja.
The statement said Sidi was picked up at the Area 1 Motor Park while attempting to board a commercial vehicle to Maiduguri, Borno State.
He also stated that upon arrest, he was searched by NDLEA operatives adding that some wraps suspected to be cannabis Sativa were found on him.
The Network gathered that during interrogation, the alleged terrorist member confessed that he came out of the Medium Security Correctional Centre in Kuje.
According to the statement, Sidi was facing charges bordering on terrorism and robbery.
“NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (Retd) has directed his transfer to the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS).” The statement said.
