The newly appointed Director, Directorate of Army Public Relations (DAPR), Brigadier General Mohammed Yerima, has pledged to improve and strengthen the already existing relationship between the Nigerian Army and the media with a view to consolidating on the gains in the ongoing war against insurgency and terrorism in the country.
His appointment was announced on Monday in Abuja after the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Maj Gen Ibrahim Attahiru gave a nod to his appointment.
Speaking during the handing and taking over ceremony held at the Army Headquarters, Abuja, on Wednesday, Brigadier General Yerima thanked the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Major General Ibrahim Attahiru for finding him worthy to be appointed the Army spokesman.
He observed that the Information Communication Technology (ICT) has made it easier for speedy dissemination of information to the general public.
In his valedictory speech, the outgone Director, Brigadier General Sagir Musa congratulated Brigadier General Mohammed Yerima on his well deserved appointment and wished him a successful tour of duty.
Brig Gen Yerima, until his appointment, was the Deputy Director Reserve at the Defence Headquarters Abuja while Brigadier General Sagir Musa who has been redeployed to Nigerian Army Training Centre (NATRAC).
High point of the event witnessed the signing of handing and taking over notes, the presentation of Directorate of Army Public Relations (DAPR) flag to new Director as well as the decoration of the new Director with the Directorate’s insignia.
