Few days after celebrities and friends of business mogul Obi Cubana took the entire Anambra State by storm following the burial ceremony of his late mother at his Oba town, the tale of a similar outing that preceded the Oba event has continued to form topics of discussion amongst Nigerians home and abroad.
The event has however opened a new chapter of discussion on how Cubana’s act of benevolence accounted for the much love he garnered during the occasion.
While many have continued to hail Obi for his acts of philanthropy, one needs to take a look at another great man from the South-Eastern part of Nigeria whose act of kindness has impacted a lot of youths in his community.
He is Chief (Dr) Ndubuisi Charles Mba who holds the title of “Ihe Oma Chukwu mere n’Nsukka” and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of CDV Properties & Development limited.
A native of Orba in Udenu Local government area of Enugu state, Mba is a real estate high flyer and well-rooted in philanthropy using his Charley Mba Foundation as a platform. His generosity does not ostensibly stem from the fact that he is a billionaire but certainly because he understands what poverty and hardship means in life.
He was born with neither silver nor golden spoon but became rich through some dint of hard work and God’s grace. He rose from the scratch and became very successful in whatever business venture he plied himself. Over time he became a major player in real estate within Nigeria and beyond. Today, his success speaks for him as he has also become quite influential.
According to a renowned American comedian/TV presenter, Jim Correy “the Golden rule of living centres on various factors among which are to discover how you will serve the world, to find out what the world needs that your talent can provide and to leave lasting effect on others. Charles Mba has obviously not only figured them out but has been living them for almost two decades now. This places him on a different pedestal from those who spend their life time trying to figure things out.
He demonstrates the exact meaning of living by using his talent to serve the world and leaving a lasting impression while serving and making positive impact on the less privileged.
Through his pet project Charley Mba foundation; a charity organization established purposely to assist indigent students, Dr. Charles Mba has given scholarships to many indigent students of Udenu and Nsukka at large from primary to university level.
He has also sponsored and trained many in professional courses in engineering, pharmacy, medicine,& nursing.
His philanthropic gesture across Nsukka zone earned him the unique title “Ihe Oma Chukwu mere n’Nsukka ” which means the good thing God has done to Nsukka zone. This title is largely hinged on the fact that that he does not discriminate when he wants to give. He sees everyone in the six local government areas of Nsukka zone as one.
One may not be wrong to assume that apart from Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Dr Charles Mba remains the benefactor leader of Nsukka zone given his legendary spirit of benevolence.
Beyond his interest in assisting less privileged students, he has provided quality tarred roads, electricity, employment opportunities for Nsukka youths and most importantly provided financial assistance to local traders and nursing mother’s in rural areas.
