GENERAL AHMED INAUGURATES NYSC/SDGs COMMUNITY SECONDARY SCHOOL IN KAZAURE

The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General YD Ahmed has appealed to corporate organisations in the country to assist the Scheme in developing the education sector.

He stated this while inaugurating the NYSC/SDG’s Community Secondary School, Sabuwon Jawo in Jigawa State.

According to a statement by the Director, Press and Public Relations, Eddy Megwa, the Director General said the Scheme has recorded numerous achievements in education, provision of healthcare services, and infrastructure development amongst others, since its inception till date.

General Ahmed added that the establishment of the NYSC/SDGs Community Secondary School is in continuation of the Scheme’s efforts to achieve the objectives of the NYSC.

The DG said the School which was established by the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals and Jigawa State Government is aimed at providing a platform for the enhancement of the girl-child education.

He urged members of the host community to ensure proper maintenance of the school, while he also appealed to other well-meaning individuals to partner with the Scheme to establish more schools so as to enhance educational development in the country.

“One of the ways by which the objectives of establishing the Scheme can be achieved is through a partnership with reputable organisations for the development of host communities”, he added.

Jigawa State Governor, Malam Umar A. Namadi, who was represented by his Deputy, Engr Aminu Usman promised to provide a more enabling environment for the Scheme in Jigawa State.

The NYSC Jigawa State Coordinator, Mrs Aishatu Adamu in her address said the inauguration of the school marks a new chapter in the activities of the Scheme in the educational development of Jigawa State.

She called on other stakeholders in the State to assist the school in achieving its mandate, especially in the development of the Girl-Child Education.

The Principal of the School, Malam Abdu Usman thanked NYSC Management likewise the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on SDGs for their foresight, magnanimity, and laudable initiative in setting up the School in Kazaure.

He said that this positive gesture will develop Girl-Child Education and provide an opportunity for the students to acquire skills and values that will help them live a better life.

“Presently, the school operates only Senior Secondary School classes with a total population of eight hundred and sixty-four students comprising 536 males and 328 females, together with 40 staff comprising thirty-six teaching and four non-teaching staff”, he added.
