MILITARY DECLARES PROFESSOR, 7 OTHERS WANTED OVER OKUAMA KILLING OF SOLDIERS

Military authorities have declared eight persons including Prof Ekpekpo Arthur wanted for their involvement in the slaughtering of 17 soldiers of the Nigerian Army at Okuama Community in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.

Others declared wanted include Reuben Baru, who few days ago released a viral video where he boasted and claimed that he was part of those that killed the soldiers. Others are: Akevwru Daniel Omotegbono; Andaowei Dennis Bakriri; Akata Malawa David; Igoli Ebi; Sinclear Oliki and Clement Ikolo Oghenerukevwe.

Briefing the press on the activities of military operations today, 28th March 2024, in Abuja, the Director, Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba confirmed and released the names of the suspects and urged Nigerians to watch out for them to arrest and bring them to justice.

It would be recalled that the soldiers, including the Commanding Officer of 181 Amphibious Battalion, Bomadi, Lt Col Hassan Ali, two Majors, a Captain, and 12 Soldiers were ambushed and slaughtered in Delta state.

 Furthermore, Gen Buba revealed some of the activities of military operations across the six geopolitical zones in the country.

In addition, he disclosed that 313 suspects in detention for terrorism-related offenses have been released to the Borno State government after a court order.

According to General Buba, the court ordered the release for want of evidence after the conclusion of the investigation and other ancillary matters.

The cases were prosecuted by the Department of Prosecution, Federal Ministry of Justice.

Accordingly, they would be handed over to the Borno State Government for further action.

He noted that troops of Operation HADIN ΚΑΙ recorded a significant occurrence during the week. As a follow-up to a court order of the Federal High Court in Maiduguri.

Overall, troops of Operation HADIN KΑΙ neutralized 52 terrorists, arrested 137, and rescued 78 kidnapped hostages within a week while the troops recovered 3 M56 rifles, 40 AK47 rifles, 3 PKT guns, 889 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 310 rounds of 7.62mm NATO amongst others.
