POWA ANAMBRA CHAPTER VISITS CP ORUTUGU

The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Police Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc MNIPS PhD, today, May 7, 2025, received the Police Officers Wives Association (POWA) in his Office at the Command Headquarters, Awka.

CP Orutugu expressed his enthusiasm to leverage on the Association’s efforts to promote a positive Police – Community Relationship with the people of Anambra State.

POWA is a non-profit organization that supports the welfare of Police Officers and their families. The Association comprises wives of Police officers and it is dedicated to promoting the well-being and interests of Police families.

In Anambra State, POWA has been actively involved in various initiatives, including Empowering women through skills training and economic empowerment programs, providing support to Police officers and their families through counselling and welfare services, organizing community outreach programs and charitable initiatives.

In her response, Mrs Chinwe Umueri, Acting Chairperson of POWA Anambra State, thanked the CP for receiving the Association.

She intimated the Command on their programmes of skills acquisition which include fashion design, catering, baking, hair and wig making, headgear styling/design and many others.

The Association also proposes to build a bakery and sought the Command’s support in this regard.

Highlights of the visit include the observation of One-Minute silence for the late Mrs Ikioye Orutugu, wife of the CP, presentation of plaques and donations to the Association by the Command, as disclosed in a statement by SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Command, Awka.
