…SAYS THEY WANT TO ROPE HIM INTO A MURDER CASE

A traditional Chief has sent a “Save their Soul” petition to the Inspector General of Police, IGP Baba Ahmed Alkali over an alleged attempt on his life by some miscreants who are said to have been empowered by the Commissioner of Police’s Special Squad Unit Strike Team of the Nigeria Police at the Lagos State Police Command, Ikeja.
The petitioner, High Chief Peter Oriyomi Ogungbesan and Maiyaki, a client to Barrister Giwa Amu alleged that his house, located at Ogun Street, Ora Community, Eredo, Epe, Lagos State, was attacked by some individuals he had a land dispute with, wreaked havoc, and shot sporadically to scare people away.
Thereafter, they went on to attack and damaged some of his cars’ windscreens and properties in his compound.
In the said petition, his lawyer, Barrister Giwa Amu stated that there is an attempt to set up his client on the false allegation of murder after they had used thugs to invade his house and damaged his property.
The petition sent to the IGP and dated 28th November 2022 explained that on the 24th November 2022, the following suspects: Oba Morufu Adelani Adeniyi; Shina Owoseni (Olisa Odogbawojo); Morufu Arashi (Egbo of Odogbawojo); Mrs. Odunayo Rasidat Omowunmi (Iyalode of Odogbawojo); Ariyo Adebajo; Ibrahim (aka No Tackle); Alfa Mosudu (aka OBK); Sule Bala; Adeoye Bakare; Yemi (aka Noble); Saheed Musaadioluwa (aka Ibile) and other unidentified persons attacked his house.
He further explained that the said, “suspects led a group of thugs, hoodlums and dare-devil miscreants, and violently and criminally invaded his client and his house.”
Barr Amu in the petition noted that the suspects had boasted that “they have perfected arrangement with the Commissioner of Police’s Special Squad Unit Strike Team of the Nigeria Police at the Lagos State Police Command Ikeja, to set up false allegation of murder, by going to a mortuary to procure a human corpse and dump it on the property of our client, High Chief Peter Oriyomi Ogungbesan, in Ora Community, Epe, Lagos State, and allege murder against our Client.”
He further revealed that his client has a lingering case of land dispute and threat to life with the suspects and they have been under investigation by the office of the Assistant Inspector General of Police, FCID Annex, Alagbon Close, Ikoyi, Lagos.
According to the petitioner, he is not taking the threat with kids’ gloves as the suspects are capable of carrying out sinister and clandestine acts hence it becomes necessary to petition the IGP to intervene before the unexpected happens.
“The suspects, by the findings of our Client, if not checked, are capable of carrying out their perfected arrangement with the Strike Team of the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Police Command, Ikeja, hence their appeal to your office to save their souls from the hands of the suspects.”
Explaining the genesis of the dispute, he averred that in a letter dated June 1, 2015, and addressed to Chief Peter Oriyomi Ogungbesan, the Late Oba Mufutua Ogunnukan, then the Adegbajo of Odogbawojo, conceded a portion of land situated at Odogbawo belongs to the Ora Royal Family.
As a result, Chief Peter Oriyomi Ogungbesan is calling on the IGP Baba Ahmed Alkali to initiate a detailed investigation into this matter with a view to bringing the culprits to justice.
Similarly, he is pleading for the transfer of the said matter at the Commissioner of Police’s Special Squad Unit Strike Team to the IGP’s office to avoid a biased investigation in order not to shield the culprits.
