…IBADAN MALL COLLAPSES, STATE GOVT CALLS FOR BLOOD DONATIONS

A huge explosion on Tuesday night hit the city of Ibadan, living Ibadan mall and Ace mall collapsed as a result of the impact.

It was however not known the source of the explosion, even as specification are rife that it could have been an earthquake because of the way that shook the city and towns.

It was learnt that the explosion shook the city of Ibadan, Oyo State and the State Government has swiftly responded by asking for blood donation for victims who might have suffered injuries.

“The Oyo State Government is aware of reports of an explosion in Ibadan. Residents are urged to remain calm as security agencies are investigating this to determine the source and cause of the incident.

“Relevant agencies are carrying out search and rescue operations at the scene of the incident. Residents of the State are urged to remain calm as the Oyo State Government is on top of the situation.”

Dr. Harvey Olufunmilayo, using his X account, shared a concerning message, expressing the possibility of numerous victims needing emergency surgeries and blood transfusions. The explosion occurred in Bodija, with University College Hospital, Ibadan being the nearest government hospital.

“If you live close to UCH hospital; Or if you live close to any of the hospitals around the area where the victims are rushed to; Please kindly go donate blood if you can. This will surely go a long way to help save the lives of the victims as they are rushed in to the hospital.

 These hospitals don’t have much blood in the blood banks to cater for this kind of unexpected disaster with massive casualties and victims. Pls help donate blood to save lives. If you see this tweet, pls share. You may help save a life.”

Additional reports indicate that the popular Ibadan Mall, Ace Mall, was severely impacted by the blast, leading to its collapse. The intensity of the explosion has prompted some to describe it as a suspected ‘Earthquake.’ Two buildings were reportedly affected.
